CANDIDATES FORUM: Our club sponsored a Candidates Forum on March 19, 7 p.m., at Freetown Elementary School Auditorium. You can view the Forum on Comcast Channel 95 at the following dates and times: Sat. & Monday (Mar. 22 & 24) - 7pm; Sunday (Mar. 23) - 9pm & 10am; Wed/Thu (Mar. 26/27) at 9pm - or, after Lakeville Board of Selectmen meeting. This is a great opportunity to learn about your candidates and their positions on important issues.
MARCH MEETING: This will be a Pot Luck Event. Plan on bringing your favorite dish to share. The program will include a speaker from the Fort Taber Military Museum in New Bedford as well as a tour of the new exhibits at the Historical Society Museum.
APRIL MEETINGS: BOD Meeting on April 8, 7 p.m. Members Meeting on April 22. Bus trip to Boston University to visit the Eye Research facility there. The event will include a meal ($12) and a tour of the facility.
MEMBERSHIP:Want to make a difference in the world? Consider membership in the Freetown Lions Club. The Lions Club has as one of its goals the elimination of preventable blindness. The members are ordinary people who pay dues, hold a dinner meeting once a month, and work together to raise money to contribute to the promotion of our main goal and to local causes as well. EYE-GLASS DONATIONS: Eye glasses can be deposited in the purple and yellow receptacle at Sedell's Pharmacy on Main St. in Assonet, which is next to the Post Office.
Projects or Causes we have funded: scholarships for local students, student participation in the Massachusetts All-State Band, donations for eye research, donations for emergencies, support for participation in Camp Kyle, a summer camp for diabetic children, and countless other worthy causes.
